“(Aged in 50% new oak): Inky ruby. Ripe blueberry, cherry cola and cassis on the deeply perfumed nose, along with a smoky nuance and a hint of vanilla bean. Smooth, sappy and concentrated; black and blue fruit flavors are complemented by suggestions of peppery spices, mocha and licorice. Finishes spicy and impressively long, with a spicy jolt of cracked pepper and dusty tannins coming in late. I really like the balance of richness and vivacity here."
